this past month, my church read through Proverbs, one chapter a day. i finished it today, and loved this journey. Proverbs has so much good wisdom for anyone. it's a great read for all. at the start of the month i had asked my friend rose to join me in reading, and she agreed to read along. we would meet once every week or so to discuss what we read. i loved spending that time with her and hearing what she took from it and being able to tell her what i got from it. plus i just love spending time with her. i'm so blessed to have her in my life.

maybe it's because i'm a girl, but i've always loved reading Proverbs 31. this chapter tells me what i need to strive to be like, and how i should live my life as a woman of God. the above pictures is one of my favorite verses. looks are always changing, fads hardly even make it a whole season, but what is in your heart is always the same. yes, i like being told i look nice (what girl doesn't), but it's only nice for that day, or that outfit. but i feel better when people compliment my heart, or the actions i make intentionally. your actions speak what is in your heart.

i love when my church does readings together. we've had two this year already. it's encouraging to know that i am not alone, and that i have friends who are there to help keep me accountable, and are willing to meet with me and talk with me about it.

how do you go through Bible readings?

gone but not forgotten

hey. i hope you all had a good memorial day weekend, and i hope you all remembered what memorial day is all about. i am so appreciative of all the men and women who serve and sacrifice, even as much as their lives, to protect this country. they have so much strength and dedication. i believe it takes an extremely special type of person to be in the military. and it takes is even more special type of person to marry into and start a military family. i am happy that i was raised in an area where i can interact with military people on an almost daily basis. i am so thankful for everyone in the military and who have served this country. because of them i am able to safely sit here and write this.

i spent part of monday at work. i had a good time with the kiddos, but i'm so glad it was my last shift with them for a while. then in the afternoon i went up to the boyfriend's house and had some delicious BBQ (sometimes i feel like such a kansas city girl with how much i love me some BBQ). then we spent the evening watching a movie and playing wii. it was just a nice, relaxing day.

how did you guys spend your long weekend?

run run run

so i'm not the best at running. i used to run a lot in high school, and even did pretty well at it my first year at college. but for the past few years i just haven't gotten back into it, and now whenever i run i am reminded of how horribly out of shape i am. which is really bad considering i am running my first 5k in 6 days. i am actually signed up for three 5ks this summer, which is ridiculous considering this is the first time i've done any real running since 2009. but i am determined to be able to run the whole thing by the end of the summer, even though it won't be happening at this first one. saturday i am doing the dam to dam 5k in des moines, iowa with my aunt. she has done it for the past few years and i am excited to do this with her, but also pretty sure she will dominate me.

at the end of the month i am doing the color run here in kansas city with a friend from church and maybe a friend from school as well. they both have already done at least one race this year, so we will see how well i do compared to them. i know it's not about comparing myself to other people, but it's kind of a habit when it comes to stuff like this. i may be slightly competitive and not the best loser.then in the middle of july i am running the glow run, a night run in city market, with the same friend from church.

i am extremely excited to be doing all of these races, but am also very nervous about them. i know that with continued training it will be okay, but with camp and doing classes this summer, i'm not sure how i will fit everything in. i can't wait for them and can't wait to see what this summer hold in the lines of health and fitness. i'll be sure to keep you posted. =]

do any of you enjoy running? was it a natural thing or did it take some effort?

bucket list

so today i had been thinking about change, and how i so badly need it in my life. i mentally started making a bucket list. now i am horrible at remembering things, so i finally figured i should write it down. some of it is typical stuff, some is stuff i may never realize has actually happened, but here goes nothing

- i want to travel. i want to visit all 50 states, along with a few different countries (like englad, scotland, ireland, australia(i want to see the sydney opera house soooooo bad), greece, italy)
-i want to make an impact. i'm not sure how this would happen, or if it has happened.
-i want to go sky diving
-i want to find a career that i love and am passionate about
-i want to get married and have kids at some point
-i want to run a 5k in under 45 minutes
-i want to get back into shape and return to my high school weight
-i want to help others find healing

these are just a few that i have so far. i hope that i can start checking things off soon. if anyone wants to help, you are more than welcome.

what's on your bucket list?

hello there

hey. so as you can probably tell i'm really new at this whole blog thing. i figure since i read them so much i may as well start one, even if it's just for me to write random things. a little intro about me.

- i'm 22 years old. i've lived in a small town near kansas city my whole life. i love kansas city with my whole heart, but i am quite a pansy when winter gets here.
- this year i decided i was going to get back into running. i am signed up to do three 5k's this summer. my first one is in a few weeks and i'm kinda nervous.
- my faith is a huge part of who i am. i grew up going to your typical wooden white country church. i got baptized when i was 9. i now go to a bigger, more contemporary church and i absolutely love it there.
-i'm going to school. i am hoping to get into pharmacy school. right now i am going to nau for pharmacy technician classes.
- music and photography are some true passions of mine. i'm not the best at piano, flute, or singing but i do them anyways.
