if by mainstream music you mean justin beiber, taylor swift, or whoever sings that really annoying call me song...i very much want to shoot my radio when i hear that useless noise. all of them seem to have the same point of their songs..."i like someone and want to find a way to talk to them but can't because i don't know what i'm doing because i'm 17" plus they sound whiny. i am also losing my admiration for adele, strictly because her songs are waaaaayyy over played. i really hate when we have the radio at work on the hits station, because you literally hear they exact same annoying songs every hour, and i just want to punch the radio when that happens. (usually i just go change it to 80's or 90's music instead)
i feel like now-a-days it's really hard to find good new music. most of the time i tend to start listening to the classic rock station instead of the hits stations (normally i listen to country, even though they had some really annoying songs also) i feel like our expectations of music has really gone down. we seem to just want noise that sounds the same no matter who is producing it. we don't seem to care about lyrics anymore. when i hear music, not only do i want the good music, i want good lyrics. my brother listens to roger clyne and peacemakers, and about a year ago, when i was at his house last, it was about all he was listening to. it's good music, and his lyrics have meaning. if you haven't heard it, i suggest checking them out. (pandora is my favorite way of checking out bands)
i may listen to a lot of music, but i'm still kinda picky about the music i like. sometimes i listen to most music just to have some background noise. so i guess you can say i really dislike mainstream music.
what music do you like?

smell the roses
so jessica at lovely little things has a "task" every week that makes you stop and pay attention to the little things. this is the first time i have participated in this and i'm pretty excited. this weeks thing was to write a letter for you to read in five years.
dear me,
i really hope you have found more stability and peace lately. i know 18-22 was really stressful, and it seemed like it was never ending. i hope you are doing something you really enjoy. it may not always be something mom and dad agree with, but as long as you are happy, that's what matters. i hope by now you have found the man of your dreams. if it's jd, awesome. if it's not, that's okay too. keep doing what makes you happy, and keep discovering who you are. no matter where you are, keep finding a church to be connected in, and make sure you are connected. i know after high school it's been harder to let others in and get connected, but you know how vital it is. keep going to small group. even at 22, the girls from monday night are some of the best friend i have, besides christina and felicia. i have no doubt they are still a part of our lives. keep trying to be healthy. i hope you've kept running and added some more 5ks to our little list. most importantly though, keep loving Jesus and God, and keep loving yourself.
love ya, 22 year old me.

high five for friday!
linking up again with from my gray desk. it's been long and kinda bad week, so i'm honestly not sure if i will even have five things on here. we'll try though. and if y'all could just pray for me to have some strength, i would greatly appreciate it.
one. i get to meet baby emmett!!!!! i'm bringing dinner to some of my dear friends hilary and alan this evening, and i get to meet their baby boy emmett. hilary's instagram feed is full of his precious little face and i'm so excited to see them and meet him.
two. family time. last night i went with my parents to the visitation of my grandpa's cousin. i don't really remember her from my childhood, just because i was so young, but i went with them anyways. i was able to see my aunt, uncle, and grandparents, and got reintroduced to a majority of people

this is kind of how i felt last night. they all remembered me but i didn't remember any of them
three. ordered new glasses. am i weird or what to have this on my list. yesterday jessica at lovely little things had a post about a site called firmoo where you can get glasses for cheap. i just had to check out it. the ones she got are super adorable! and i'm super excited to get these little gems.
four. small group. last week i had to miss small group with set a bad tone for the whole week. (i had also missed church on sunday because we were driving home from nebraska then) so i was beyond stoked to get back into the grove and spend time with my dear small group. it's a great group of young women and i love all of them dearly. i don't know how i got through life without them.
five. these. so i found some little comic books laying around at work last friday night. it was super exciting for me. like i can't even describe it. they helped my slow friday evening go by a bit faster. (the girl i was working with couldn't believe how excited i got to see them laying around)

5. something i want to say to an ex
so i'm pretty sure the only way to make this even slightly pleasant is to write it as a thank you letter, but realistically it probably still wont be that pleasant.
dear ex,
thank you for so far being the worst mistake of my life.
thank you for being more than willing to take things from me that i will never be able to get back.
thank you for making me hate myself for far too long.
thank you for causing so much tension between my brother and me.
thank you for adding to my long list of issues.
and big thank you for making it a million times harder for me to trust anyone.
thank you for always making me feel guilty about something.
thank you for making me cry so much when you know i hate crying.
thank you for finding ways to cause fights or tension with everyone around you.
thank you for helping me realize what i never want in a friend, and especially in a boyfriend.
huge thank you for breaking up with me and letting me realize how much i regret you.
i am so glad to no longer have you in my life.
i am so much happier with you gone.
i am still working on trusting others, and it's still seemingly impossible.
it took me a long time, but i have forgiven you for screwing up my life for as long as you did, but don't think i have forgotten anything.
i really hope you turn out to be a good dad to your child, but i'm not holding my breath. i feel sorry that child has you as dad.
sincerely, me

4. bullet my day
sorry for the temporary blog hiatus. i was in nebraska all weekend for my friends wedding. it was great to see her and be able to witness her wedding. they kept it pretty laid back and amusing, which is very much her. i got back sunday afternoon and have been pretty busy with work and catching up on homework these past few days. finally taking a little break and getting back into the grove of this.
so i don't have a daily schedule that is the same throughout the week. each day is different, but for the most part each week schedule is the same, but usually each week is the same. since i don't have a daily schedule that's the same, i will just go through todays schedule. and yes, i use 24 hour time for pretty much everything.
- roughly 0130 i fall asleep (i'm a college kid i'm allowed to do this)
- kinda slept in this morning and woke up around 0930 (not sure why i slept so late)
- did some homework until about 11-1130ish, then had to get the mail and get some lunch
- 1230 i got ready for work and left about 1245. (i'm not very high maintenance, so it doesn't even take
me a whole 15 mins to get ready)
- at work by 1300. was able to do continue with homework there while doing the random things for work.
- left about 1615 (short and fast day at work today) only to come home and finally finish my homework that was due tonight.
- had dinner with dad around 1730 to about 1900. (in case it's not obvious yet, i spend a lot of time with my dad. i love it, especially when he tells me to annoy him with homework questions)
- 1915 made my starbucks stop. (i spend waaaay too much money there, but it's soooo good)
- 1930 make it to school.
- 2200 come home and write this and watch some olympics.
still need to shower and do my quiet time and thankful list. i'm trying to get back into being consistent with quiet time and making my thankful list.
i know my days aren't that exciting, but what do you expect? all i do is school, work, and homework. semi routine, usually just the times change.
what does your typical day look like?
